Welcome to a world of sustainable, eco-friendly, permit-free, and cost-effective housing options, along with a variety of innovative projects. My name is Rich Richardson, an artist, arts consultant, and co-founder of Chinatown Artists Lofts, First Friday Honolulu, and The ARTS at Marks Garage. Recognized as one of the individuals making a difference in Honolulu Magazine’s November 2013 issue, I’m now dedicated to crafting tiny homes in the vibrant city of Honolulu.

Our Tiny House on Wheels is a unique take on the classic Plantation Style Shepherd’s Hut, which was recently sold to a teacher on Maui. Now, we’re thrilled to offer you the opportunity to own a similar masterpiece or even collaborate on a custom design tailored to your unique needs.

The arched roof, crafted from corrugated material in the style of a Quonset Hut, creates a spacious, high-ceilinged interior. The foundation rests on a robust, street-legal trailer sourced from Texas, ensuring both mobility and stability. Inside, you’ll find a minimalist layout featuring reclaimed old-growth wood flooring.

This dwelling is fully off-grid capable, equipped with solar power, rainwater collection, a composting toilet, and a hand-powered washing machine. Propane fuels essential appliances like the stove, refrigerator/freezer, and on-demand hot water heater for the shower. The multi-functional sofa serves as a single or double bed and offers ample storage underneath.

With dimensions measuring 18 feet in length and 8.5 feet in width, the interior offers 140 square feet of living space. Step outside through the double French doors to discover a lanai and awning, creating a seamless connection to the outdoors.

The demand for alternative housing in Hawaii is ever-growing. Referred to as “House Trailers” locally, these dwellings fall under the jurisdiction of the DMV, not the Department of Permitting and Planning, making them legal to park on private properties with proper permissions.

We adhere to International Building Code standards in all our projects. Our location in Kalihi Valley, a lush tropical rainforest, is a mere 15-minute drive from Downtown Honolulu.

Feel free to reach out and discuss your housing needs. We’re here to explore options and pricing that align with your vision of sustainable living in beautiful Honolulu, Hawaii.
