Building a Brighter Future Together
Established in 2014, Operation Tiny Home is a 501(c)(3) national nonprofit dedicated to creating affordable, high-quality small-footprint housing solutions. Our mission is to bring hope and stability to vulnerable individuals, including those facing homelessness, veterans, seniors needing aging-in-place options, survivors of natural disasters, and other at-risk groups.
While we don’t build homes directly for individuals, we collaborate with outstanding nonprofit organizations and community housing programs to provide lasting housing solutions for those in need. Together, we work to empower lives, restore dignity, and create stronger, more vibrant communities through emergency, transitional, and long-term small-footprint housing projects.
Veterans have the chance to learn essential carpentry and building skills while coming together to construct a home for a fellow veteran in need.
Join veteran homebuilder and Tiny House Nation Co-Host, Zack Giffin, for a hands-on, three-day Tiny Home Building Workshop in Orlando, Florida, from February 4–6, 2017. This workshop is free for all active-duty military personnel and veterans and will take place at Cornerstone Tiny Homes, with tools generously provided by Milwaukee Tool.
Are you a veteran interested in pursuing a career in carpentry or construction? Or perhaps you’re eager to build your own tiny home? Sign up below! This workshop welcomes all experience levels, but space is limited.
Course Overview
In this three-day workshop, participants will gain a fundamental understanding of the entire construction process, from laying the foundation to installing finishing trim. You’ll get hands-on training with common construction tools, and veterans will learn about various building materials, project workflow, and how each stage impacts the next. Advanced skills like reading blueprints, preparing foundations, framing, and understanding basic electrical and plumbing systems, as well as tiny home design concepts, will also be covered.
