Initially, the family would set up a tent and pack it up, which was a hassle. However, as they wanted a more enjoyable experience during their weekend getaway, they decided to look for a small place to stay. After inspecting several used pop-ups, campers, trailers, and motorhomes, they decided to build a small weekend cabin. However, due to a lack of time, they decided to purchase one instead of building it.
After inspecting several builders’ cabins, they found most of them to be cheaply built and not up to their standards. So they decided to build a genuine log cabin that wouldn’t depreciate like a camper and would last a lifetime.
The family traveled all over the states to meet Amish and Mennonite builders before finally coming across a small family-run Amish shop in South East Ohio. The cabin they built had all the features they wanted, including a wood-burning stove, solid pine bunk beds, and custom stools. The family felt that everyone should have the opportunity to own a high-quality custom dream cabin, so they partnered with the Amish shop to develop detailed build specifications.
