Allison and I first crossed paths on the Caribbean island of St. John, both working seasonal jobs in the food and agriculture sectors. In 2014, we made the decision to move to Alaska, and soon after, we discovered that Homer was the perfect place for us. The community’s zest for life, the well-connected local food system, and the inspiring natural surroundings made us feel truly at home.
In 2015, we decided to turn a long-held dream into reality by building our own tiny home. This wasn’t just about creating a place to live, but also about demonstrating how artistic and unique a small living space can be. We wanted to spark conversations about sustainability, using reclaimed materials, and the philosophy of simple living. With incredible support from our community, we built our first home using entirely salvaged materials and our own resources.
Over the past three years, as our tiny home has grown, so has our philosophy on building and tiny living. Since completing our first home, “Marie Del Sol,” we have built two more distinct mobile tiny homes and taken on numerous creative carpentry projects, all while forming meaningful connections with clients and further refining our business model.
Our mission has always been to share the tiny living lifestyle and engage our community. We aim to help others achieve debt-free homeownership, embrace a more sustainable way of living, and enhance their overall well-being. In doing so, we hope to reduce the collective carbon footprint and pave the way for future generations.
