Nordic and Spruce began as a college project by Matt Troyer in 2017, rooted in his background in psychology and passion for design and construction. Originally aiming for a career in mental health, Matt shifted focus in 2020, inspired by his experience as a contractor and the growing interest in tiny homes. He co-founded Nordic and Spruce, a tiny home company, initially with a friend, who later moved on.
The company has since built over 70 tiny homes across America, primarily serving as off-grid retreats promoting wellness and rest. In 2023, Matt expanded this vision by acquiring 15 acres in Monterey, TN, where he is developing a wellness retreat to host events and programs aimed at fostering healing and spiritual growth.
Nordic and Spruce is driven by the belief that there must be a deeper purpose behind every project. Their tagline, “spaces to rest,” reflects their commitment to creating environments that offer peace and rejuvenation, whether for long-term living, short-term stays, or as a place to host others.
