Land Ark

The idea for Land Ark originated in 2010 during a flight from Houston to San Diego when Brian and Joni began sketching out plans for mobile homes on Southwest Airlines napkins. They were certain of three things – they wanted to move to a beautiful location, build their own home on wheels, and use their experience to create a product for like-minded individuals. In June 2011, after Brian graduated from architecture school, they rented a warehouse space in Houston and started building their prototype, mostly on their own with occasional help from family and friends. The hard work paid off, and they were able to move around the country and live in various beautiful places while also testing out different ideas for their mobile home.

Living in RV parks helped them understand what designs, floor plans, and utilities work best for privacy and functionality. In 2015, they purchased an off-grid property in Colorado where their mobile home, Woody, now resides full-time. Since then, they have used their own experiences to develop and perfect their designs, focusing on both function and modern aesthetic.

Brian, with a background in architecture, takes a fresh and functional approach to each space he designs, while Joni, with a marketing and project management background, collaborates with him to ensure function and modern trends work together.
