The story of Cuyuna Cove

Kelsey and Chris grew up in St. Cloud, MN, and went to junior high and high school together. They were not close friends at the time but ran into each other occasionally through mutual friends. Chris went on to become a physical therapist, attended St. Cloud State, and moved to New York City, where he opened his own clinic. Kelsey attended the University of MN, where she earned a degree in Design and Journalism, and moved to different cities to teach English, work in real estate, and purchase her first small Airbnb rental house in Austin, TX.

Kelsey moved back to MN in 2017, and over the holidays, she met Chris in Minneapolis through Bumble. They connected and moved to Indonesia to save money and plan their next step. They bought a 30ft 1995 Georgie Boy Swinger RV and remodeled it for a few months. They parked it at a friend’s land, an hour north of Crosby, MN, where they learned about Crosby and the MTB Trails. They found a small mining house in Crosby and renovated it in a month to have somewhere to live in winter.

They often talked about running a B&B or building a dream destination, pulling together all their travel experiences and unique places they had stayed in the US and the world. They made an offer on 3.2 wooded acres on the edge of town, with direct access to the Mountain Bike Trails to start building their dream destination. They worked tirelessly, around the clock, to build the cabins you’re now staying in, with Kelsey’s dad, Google, and friends’ help. The project took more than two years to complete, and the 5 cabins at Cuyuna
