Dave Bates is the founder and craftsman behind Portable Cedar Cabins. Dave personally constructs all RV certified cabins in Spirit Lake, Idaho, creating park models that combine the mobility of an RV with the quality and durability of a custom-built home. These tiny homes range from 144 to 400 square feet on wheels, although the term “tiny home” is used solely for marketing purposes, as there is currently no legal, universally agreed-upon definition for it.

The definition of “tiny home” is as changeable as the wind, and due to the lack of a unified understanding, it is subject to interpretation, resulting in varying explanations from lenders, insurance companies, and local jurisdictions.

• All cabins are certified and inspected by Pacific West Associates INC, custom-built to code, with no prefab components.
• Each cabin is issued a VIN number after passing strict inspection.
• Flexible design options to meet your specifications.
• All units are constructed on a superior custom-built steel trailer or on skids. All Portable Cabins adhere to the ANSI Standard A119.5.
• Outer walls constructed with 2″x4″ to 2″x6″ framing, R21 insulation, 7/16 OSB Shear, Vapor Barrier, and Cedar Lap Siding.
• Roof and floor insulated with R21 to R30 insulation, depending on the model.
• Interior options include Tongue and Groove. Wired and plumbed according to your preferences.
• Custom single or double door entry. Choice of single or double cabin.
• Option for no loft or 1 to 2 lofts. With or without a porch. Off-grid option available.
