Rich Daniels, the founder of Rich’s Portable Cabins, Inc., had the foresight to transition from the declining timber industry to a more sustainable career path over two decades ago. He purchased 75 acres of timber and a portable sawmill, using his carpentry skills to build sheds for customers. Two sheds were later converted into a bunkhouse and a bath house for a couple building their own home. Rich’s Sheds expanded into the manufacture of playhouses, which caught the attention of the Women in Timber organization, leading to the creation of a miniature “cabin on wheels” that became the inspiration for a park model RV.
Rich’s Portable Cabins has now grown into a larger facility after navigating through the challenges of economic downturns and unfavorable legislation. The company has received approval for an RV park on their property, allowing them to offer their park models and “tiny homes” for nightly rental. Rich’s daughter, Harmony, is now continuing the family legacy and helping to build a bright future in the Tiny Home Industry.
Looking ahead, Rich Daniels aims to promote sustainability and ecotourism by showcasing sound forestry practices and sharing his love for timber with others.
